Default Loud grinding/screech when ac turns on

Ok so i've had this on going problem for a while now ever since i had my auto swapped to manual but everyone now and then when i first turn on the AC i get this loud grinding/screeching noise. I turn the AC off and it goes away, turn it back on and it's gone sometimes.

I'm hoping it's nothing with the swap and that it might just be a AC pulley or something like that. I tried to get it to do it while i record so you guys can see and hear what im talking about but of course it won't do it.

Anywho was just wondering if any of you have seen this issue and what did you do to fix it. Thanks!

Sounds like the clutch on the compressor going bad. Eventually if indeed it is the clutch, it will lock up and cause the belt to still rotate but causing excessive friction on the drive belt.

Yeah I would. Get a second or third opinion. With what you are telling me and describing, it is the clutch. You can find a compressor cheap on the classifieds. Just get it checked out and see what they say.

^Agreed.

Although compressor assemblies can be disassembled and repair what's neccesary, I would rather get a whole other unit, new/reman or used working condition.

yeah i guess it looks like i'm going to replace the stupid O-ring thats dripping oil on my alternator and possibly on the pulleys that could be catching dirt which then could cause the belts and all that to be the problem. Then if that doesn't work then I'm going to have to go with the AC Compressor.

Thanks for the help guys!
