I have a 93 sc400 witht the stock auto tranny and i had this problem just start yesterday. When i shift into 2nd or low manually with the shifter there is some resistance and it sort of clicks and goes into first after i put enough pressure on it (as if there is something in the way). Also when i park it and go to take the key out it wont come out, the shifter isnt going all the way into park and unlocking the ignition cylinder, i have to jiggle and play with it before i can get the key to turn to off and come out.
And the weird thing is that my overdrive turned off at the same time this problem started to occur. the harness is broken in my shifter handles os the button has never worked, over drive has just always been on. So maybe there is a wire being caught or in the way of some parts in there?

Can i take a part the actual shifter and see if there is sonething in there/broken?
has anyone had this problem before?

well i figured it out, and i feel retarded lol.

the damn shifter cover thats right below the actuall shift handle had gotten jamed inside the shifter housing, i pulled it out and the shifter moved fine. i still need to fix the over drive though, but its probably a pulled/loose wire.
