Default CEL Code P1120 (APPS) - Acceleration Pedal Positioning Sensor Question

Hello Guys,

Can anyone help me out? I have a 1999 sc300. I just had a CEL and the code is P1120. When it first started, it drives fine but then after maybe 15mins of driving normal, it became a bad girl. It won't accelerate pass about 3k rpm on full throttle. Once that happen I pop the hood and manually pull the throttle wire and it does nothing. Does anyone has this happen to him before? I called the dealership and they want $300+ for this part. Also, is this sensro the same as TPS? Please let me know this is my only car to get around. I drive max about 50mph to work and it takes like 50 sec to get to that speed.

Thanks,
Ryan

So does anyone ever has this issue before? Also can someone point me to a picture of a 1999 sc300 tps sensor vs apps sensor? Or is it the same thing?

A quick search yields a post I created years ago about this problem. All the information can be found here: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/per...-problems.html

Thanks Luxor, so I actually called the dealer today and ask for the APP sensor and they told me it will be $405. I think that's too much. But from the thread you reference, it seems like the throttle assembly is he problem huh? Let me see if I can call tomorrow to see how much.

That's way too much. You should source a used one for cheap or try to find a new one on ebay. According to your code, the APPS might be the problem.

You need part# 22060-46010. 1998 Supra(VVTi), SC300 1998-2000, GS300 1998-2000 all share the same part number.

Question for you, will the throttle assembly lever from non-vvti works on mine?

As far as I know, non-vvti do not have ETCS-i, therefore do not even have that sensor.

Thanks Luxor, I finally got my car up and running. What I did was bought a whole throttle body from a jdm vvti 2jz for $200 but luckily everything was the same except for an extra bracket near the throtte lever but that's about it.

That's good news, hopefully the sensor will last a long time from the JDM throttle body.

Yup I hope so too because the guy I bought it from said the motor only have maybe 50-60k on it. Also all the rubber tube still feel fresh rather than the one on mine.
