Yes, if you have a manual OBD-II ECU, you will not have a CEL. You have a CEL now because your auto ECU is looking for an automatic transmission that no longer exists.

Only one small problem i notice using Auto ECU on manual car is when you rev it sitting still the car thinks in drive and sees rpm signal but no speed sensor signal so it throws a speed sensor code. It only happens when you rev the car multiple times while sitting still, once you start driving the CEL goes off.

A 96 manual Ecu will work better in your car then mine. I have a 97 and I would have to move some pins around to get it to work correctly. I don't have a 96 Ecu pinout for auto and manual but if you get one just compare and see what pins need to be moved around if any. Maybe you could get a patch harness from tweak with it already done.

^^ We could do that, but if it's just a few pins that need moved, it doesn't seem reasonable to spend $300 on a patch harness to take care of a 10 min re-pinning job.

I got the pinout for the 96 now. It's like 5-6 pins that need to move around for my 97. I suppose it's easier for a 96. I am doing the patch harness so I don't have to mess with my engine harness and if I ever wanted to go back to factory I just gotta unplug it and sell it as plug and play since with the Tt Ecu mod I gotta add some wires. But after some thinking I'm not using the patch harness. I'm just going to unpin the Ecu and repin the configuration that I need and add some pins for the new wires.
