Default 1Uz Flywheel choice

Hello!

i will next year my SC400 swap to manual with a W58 tranny.

i look longer time in the www for a flywheel, and i found sveral flywheels.

Ok..the modified 3VZ Flywheel is no option for me.. too much risk to break and more.

I found the Fidanza flywheel for the 1UZ Landcruiser, but which clutch will fit? no more informations to found. Have somewhere installed this?

from 1uzfeswapkits gives the modified 3VZ FW or i think the fidanza or fidanza style with the friction disc.

from dellowconversion gives a flywheel, 10kg, new part and a standard W58 clutch fit.

i found from xatracing a 11lbs(!) flywheel! wow.... but is this strong enough for a daily and little bit fun?

which flywheels used her? is alloy or steel better? i will only a NA 1UZ with some mods and in the future a stand alone

greets

Tom

I wasn't even aware that Fidanza made a flywheel.

I used a flywheel that was made by SuperRunner. I purchased it second hand from someone else and have had no problems with it.

The biggest problem I see with an 11 pound flywheel is that the RPM's would drop too fast for it to be a good daily flywheel.

hy ihiryu!

Fidanza have the flywheel in his part list for the Land Cruiser.

yes, 11 pounds can give a problem for a daily, you´re right. A friend of me have in his IS300 GE-T a very light fw, is only good for drift and race, but on the street is it horrible thanks for this hint.

I have the steel fw from Quantum, great for daily driving. Over 5k miles now on my w58 swap, no issues whatsoever.

I do not know what your plans are with your car but for daily NA, a steel flywheel would be sufficient,

@axmily...i orderd the steel flywheel yesterday thanks again for the link!

@mr2tosc4... i think the steel is the right choice. i will go the must time on street and sometimes on track for fun. My first idea for 2 years was to install a blower, but in the future i will go NA Tuning with other headers, Stand alone, DIY Inlet manifold and and and it gives very much ideas and projects of this engine but first, i install in the spring the LS400 calipers

I'm assuming the Quantum steel flywheel is the 3vz redrilled wheel, yes?

HY!

no, is a new one!

here form the bolt performance site:

This flywheel is a must have to convert your UZ Series engine to a manual transmission. This flywheel is designed specifically to work with a Quantum Auto Clutch Kit or a 86-92 Toyota Supra NON Turbo Clutch equivalent kit. This is a standard steel flywheel modified to work with the 1UZFE engine, using the correct ring gear, thickness, and bolt spacing. This flywheel weighs under 20lbs, which is fairly light for a large steel flywheel. - Includes matched (8) OEM Toyota Flywheel Bolts * Please note, product is made to order, and may encounter a 2-4 week waiting period. Please contact us if you have any questions. ++Please also note, this is NOT a modified 3SGTE flywheel, the teeth of that flywheel are facing the wrong direction for the UZ starter. Don't use the wrong flywheel!
greets

[QUOTE=SCary400;7684247]I'm assuming the Quantum steel flywheel is the 3vz redrilled wheel, yes?[/QUO

Both the quantum and the 1uzfeswapkit.com flywheels are modified 3vz flywheels.
and, they are not redrilled, but instead endmilled out less than 1/32" of an inch. Not much chance of breakage. and between both companies they have probably sold over 500 flywheels and noone has raised any issues so far.
the xat flywheel is a modified 3sgte flywheel and the holes get milled out almost 1/2". and the ring gear lead is in the wrong direction. Scary ****!
