Default Best Headers for VVT-i SC400?

Hello all,

I am relatively new to this site. I have a 2000 SC 400, and I am wondering if there are any high-quality aftermarket headers for my car. I have heard positive things about the IMF headers, but they are only a perfect fit for a pre-1995 SC 400. I have not yet found any high-quality (this is my daily driver) headers which will fit perfectly in the VVT-i equipped SC 400. Does anyone know if any such headers are available, and if so, where I could find them? I plan on installing the Blitz Nur-spec R cat-back exhaust as well, if that makes a difference. Thank you in advance to anyone who can answer.

Thank you for the reply. I looked at the PPE website, and it states that the headers are made for virtually all Lexus cars with the 1UZ and 3UZ. It is not possible that they could fit all of those cars perfectly; do they happen to fit better in the VVT-i SC 400 than the other cars, or will they require exhaust system modification like the IMF and S&S headers? Thanks.

There really isn't a "best" header for our cars. Right now it is more of a "this is what is available" type situation and at the moment PPE is what is available. Every other header I've come across seems to be discontinued.

You just missed a group buy for (I believe they were) PPE Headers in the Vendors Classifieds section.
I believe the headers will fit all 1UZ and 3UZ motors, the only part that needs some modification to fit all models is where the headers attach to your exhaust/cats. I believe the flanges need to be modded a bit to fit perfectly.

I have the ppe headers on a 98 vvt-i sc400. i love them. the fitment is perfect and they bolt up straight to the cats with no modification. where the modification is required however though is after the cats. basically when mounted to the new headers, the cats are angled out more so they will not bolt right back up to the piping. an exhaust shop will need to cut you new piping/cut and weld your current piping to work. the reason the ppe headers work for the 1uz and 3uz is that the block is exactly the same, just bored out on the 3uz.

i will tell you this however, installation is hell.
