Sloppy W58 shifter. What about new bushings for TRIPOD Shifter setups?

so it was the 33548 between those 2 round metal things, good to know had no idea there was a bushing inside that went bad.

Yes, the bushing is internal and connects the "shift rod" to the internal shifter. Just happy I figured it out and pulling the tranny wasn't in vain.

Finally got the bushing in today. Good thing for everyone else, that may have this problem is you don't need to pull the tranny, unless the bushing is disintegrated like mine. I had to vaccum the debris out of the tranny which may be impossible with the tranny in the car. Here's pics and video of what it looks like now.

How the bushing should come out of your housing. Just unbolt the 6 bolts on top and the tripod.


Just a shot of how the bushing sits in the hole.


Here's a shot of the old bushing vs the new. Supposedly the tranny never had issues. The bushing must have disintegrated on the 200 mile drive home in my trunk...
