Default 97 Cluster disassembly/assemby help

I just did the tech mod on the cluster and I wasnt really paying attention to the screws I removed earlier. There were 3 different ones. Tall silver, short silver, and black. The silver screws had long tips with no threads on it. I dont know if those tips are there for a purpose. Does anyone know? If they do have a purpose I am going to have to find out exactly which screws goes where.

Pictures in a moment.

So These are the tall silver screws I was talking about. The black screws were similar in length so its hard to determine which screws went where. Im not even sure if the black ones are original with the cluster. They may have been added by the previous owner.

Does anyone know if the non threaded tip on these screws play any importance?

The ones with tips act as connectors so they are important. They go to the 5 holes in each end of the cluster.

crap I was afraid of that. Leave it to me to screw up something as simple as the tach mod.

If anyone knows or has an cluster lying around and can tell me which screws go where or how I can figure it out I would appreciate it.

There are 6 long screws, 6 short ones and 7 black ones btw.

The fine thread go in the middle, the rough thread go on the outside motors. Always easiest to remember that the fine thread go into metal and the rough thread are larger because they go into plastic.

Thanks. I'm pretty sure I figured out which screws go where. Now I'm having problems with some the of the longer ones just spinning in place and not tightening down. I'm going to have to make my own screws at work tomorrow

nah no pictures of it from me but there are some in the link below. I can tell you that once you open the cluster up and pull off the back of it (What you see in my picture) You will see a big resistor near the top of the cluster. In small writing you will see R2 next to it. You just solder a piece of wire on both ends of that thing and you are good to go.

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/per...ach-issue.html

The thread confirms the R2 resistor for 97 clusters from others.
