I had my CEL and TRAC lights, so I went to the closest local shop to see what code was being thrown up. Sure enough, 25.

I was then told that this was an expensive fix because a "Lexus" oxygen sensor is very expensive. I wasn't planning to let this shop do the work on my car, but I stayed around, just to see what they would quote me. After about 10 minutes on the phone, he said the "best he could do" was $394 per sonsor. Including labor, I think he wanted around $960 to replace the two. What a joke.

Thanks to the intra-web I found out what I needed were two Denso Sensors that go for around $90 each. I bought the sensors when the car was in storage, but since then the CEL and TRAC lights have never came on since. I brought the car to a friend's garage, plugged it in and it didn't throw up any codes. Any ideas on how this fixed itself?

I figure I might as well replace them now that I have new ones.

I got code 25 as well, but after the reinstallation, it feels much stable condition.

Do you have a write up yet? Does anyone have a diagram of where the O2 sens are?

Exclamation How do you test for error codes

Thanks for the error codes.

BUT, how do you do a test to see these codes?
Can it be done without expensive test gear?
Thanks

Go to Autozone or Advance Auto Parts, they will read the CEL codes for you, and udualy give you a print out as well. All free.

Best place I have found to order the replacement O2 sensors is rockauto.com

Just to let everybody know - CEL and TrafOff light always come on together

in my case I have both of them and the codes are 31 24 71

I think it is pretty normal for me, especially that my AFM is unplugged

Vinny,
Good thread. I too have been getting those codes with TRAC, Trac Off and Check Engine. I took it to my non-dealer mechanic and he said that he couldn'rt read the codes, as my 95 SC400 does not have an OD-B2 plug for the scanner. So what scanner do you use? Where does it connect, etc?

I took the chance and had him replace the front O2 sensors, but it didn't fix the problem. I really don't want to do the dealer thing, but I may have to, as its coming due for inspection.

I don't have a code reader - YET - but the code the dealer gave me told me that the "front sensor was reading out of range. . . I replaced it but the check engine- light did not just go out. I emailed the service tech advisor [a breauacy at the car dealer - no less] he said to "disconnect the battery for several seconds. Do that sound about right?

TPS?

Okay from what I can see, there are a total of 4 O2 sensors to replace; 3 before the catalytic and 1 after? Which ones to change?

Also, how many wires does the front O2's have, 2 or 4?

Follow up: the Front Driver side had to be replaced 2x's within a month. I used a universal the first time and then a direct fit the second time. Now it's throwing the same code again. What gives.. there has got to be something else wrong?
