Default 1jz-gte vs. Turboed 2jz-ge

Kinda new to CL still... Was wondering which engine setup would yield more HP/Torque and also which one would have better gas mileage, reliability, etc. I found someone local who owns a shop and him and some people he knows all have 1jz swapped sc300s. He said he could swap my stock motor for a 50k mileage 1jz motor parts and labor for 2k flat (One of those 1k motors off eBay I believe.) Was wondering if that is way too cheap and also was wondering how much it would cost to turbo the stock motor and which option all-around was the better way to choose. I know I asked many questions but basically what I want to know is pricing and whats the better option for HP. Current engine is 141k on 2jz-ge.

swapping a 1jz for 2k flat , parts and labor ..are you sure its a running motor , does it even have pistons in the block .. so i guess hes working fro free for a decent 1j setup is like 1400-1800 nowadays

as far as which makes more power and torque , i will lean heavily to the 2j side as it has bigger diplacement . 1jz can make power but with lots of boost and still doesnt yield good trq numbers . its a higher revving head but tiny exh ports and always makes midframed to larger framed turbos super laggy

141k on a 2jz is nothing . as long as its got good compression and good leakdown numbers , i would boost that .

i have been boosted now 5 yrs and at 600rwhp for the last 2yrs with 126k on the stock bottomend . just got to use the right combo of parts and a good standalone and competent tuner and your golden

just my 2cents , flame on

Paper or plastic?

Pick one. You can't really go wrong as long as it's a JZ.

boosting a 2jzge versus a swap cost the same to me. except you will want to put a thicker headgasket it on the stock motor, the intercooler piping is horrendus on a GE motor, the throttle body practically hangs infront of the turbo, the distributor is in the way but can be delt with. the 1jz drops in and as long as you wanna keep it simple. the soarer swap is just add 18 inches of wire in the harness, some minor fixes with cluster and temp gauge and you are good to go.

So its better to keep the stock motor than do a 1jz swap?

lets not beat a truly beaten and cooked horse

too many posts about this debate already .. both have pros and cons period and as far as the over the top manifold in todays time thats a easy ffim fix ..and for tranny , you can use a 1jz auto as its cable driven like a ge auto tranny is or you easily mount a gte auto electronic tranny and have a ems like aem fully control it which to me is the best approach
