Default No overdrive / cruise control

So this morning I headed out to go to a memorial service for a 2nd cousin that recently passed away. When I got onto the highway, I immediately noticed that the transmission failed to shift into OD. I looked to see if I had accidently hit the button on the shifter, I hadn't. Even when I disengage the button, nothing, light on the dash doesn't come on either. Also the cruise control isn't working now, also no light?? Are these 2 interconnected somehow?

I did a search on the issues, but nothing seems to fit with what I have going on. Fluid level is fine and the only recent thing I've done was take the cluster out to replace some burnt out bulbs. Suggestions?

Any thoughts guys? Did a bit more research today and it seems that the ECU causes this, but mostly on the SC300. Anyone had similar problems? Forgot to mention, but the car is a stock 1993 SC400, auto, 115k miles. Thanks in advance.

My car was like that. It would start run and shift into all gears except O/D. changed ecu's with a friend and now it shifts into O/D. get ya a new ecu or send yours off to get it fixed.

I didn't see a fuse for cruise control / OD. First this I checked when on the side of the highway. Did I miss something??

just pulled the cluster apart to check / change bulbs on the CEL to see if I was getting any codes. Even exchanging known good blubs for the one that lights up the CEL, still can't get it to come on with just the key in the "on" position? Also, TRAC is also not working. I'm thinking it is something stupid like a fuse or relay??

The car is in the garage now for a scheduled timing belt / water pump replacement. Nobody else has had a similar issue?? Friend of mine suggested checking the speed sensor at the tailshaft of the trans? Any other information would be helpful.

Crack open the ECU and look for leaky capacitors.

This turned out to be a bad inst. cluster. Picked up a used cluster, had the mileage programmed, and good as new.
