1uz/r154 with sc300/r154 DS confirmation
Hello all,
Its starting to get to the point where im just about burned out completing my r154 swap, and the final piece that i need to confirm is if the sc300/r154 driveshaft mated together will work? Is there any shortening/lengthening required for the driveshaft conversion? I saw in one thread mentioning this setup, but no confirmation as the owner sold the vehicle. Thanks Charley |
R154 front half from an MK3 mated to SC300 rear half .It's PNP.
|
What about DM's one piece drive shaft for the R154 swap?
|
Ok, thanks.
Visually the setup looks to be good, glad to know i shouldnt be hung up again. DM is an option, but i might consider it another time. The conversion process is too expensive, and its drained me silly broke. Thanks quicksc and tweak Charley |
^^^The DM will cost you more money anyway.

Because w58 and R154 are different lol
|
Right, well I figured since they both came out of a MKIII the size of the transmission would be similar
|
Yeah, spline count is different i believe, and also the overall input shaft diameter is smaller than an r154.
Now, are there different mk3 r154 front driveshaft lengths? Or are all mk3 r154 front DS the same? Thanks Charley |
right, that I know, but since on the MKIII W58->R154, you just swap the front portion of the drive shaft. So I assumed they were about the same length
|
So just by guesstimating, your driveshaft is about 2" too short correct?

sounds about right

Since were on this subject about driveshafts, does anyone know the distance from the top of the tranny tunnel to the center of the output shaft of the auto. Because when i removed mine, i just used a wrench to measure, bit the lengths of the auto and r154 trans are different, so now my point of reference is completely different. Basically i just want to make sure that the driveshaft is as center as possible, so anyone have those measurements?

Thats strange, i just posted pics last night and theyre gone. The center of the output shaft is 4.5" from the top of the trans tunnel. But it just occured to me that i can measure the distance from ground to diff flange center and figure centering of the trans output.
