^ Even something as low as 300whp?
I'm road racing my G35 Coupe and she's been awesome and damn reliable at that. Was hoping to road race the SC this year, but if it can't even handle 300whp, im SOL. Was planning on the R154 swap this winter.... Maybe I'll just lower the boost to like 5 psi, and make 250whp. Would that work?
Or, I can road race my Supra haha, but too expensive if I wreck it lol.

I have been putting near 400hp through my w58 for quite a while, it still feels as strong as it did on day 1.
I definitely take care not to launch the car repeatedly and i dont kick the clutch or anything like that.
I choose a gear, boost and then carefully catch my next gear. slamming gears is not a great idea.
If slamming gears is part of roadracing, then your w58 will be toast at anything above stock power, including the stock clutch. also above a certain torque they just dont hold up to well, but you aren't there yet.

Forgot to mention a little background on my SC. It is NA-T with a Greddy 2.0mm HG, PT61 turbo, AEM V1. Clutch has been upgrded. There is not much slamming gears in road racing, it's all about being smooth (or try to be). Most of the time you stay on 2 gears (sometimes 3)- 3rd and 4th depending on power level, track layout, and length of straights...
My drivetrain is W58 and the stupid open diff. Both will be upgraded hopefully this winter. BTW, how many posts do I need before I can post signatures (so I don't need to describe my car every time?)

Its really excessive torque or abuse that kills the w series trans, and i wouldn't describe that as abuse.

I just think it's luck ! my friend went through 4 of them back to back on gte with 60-1 at 320hp but he doesn't baby them.
Every car is different every setup is different , you might get 30k miles out of yours at 400hp and i might not get 7k miles at 350hp.
Just take it easy so you can sell it, recoup some $$ and move on to the next brother.

I remember a local member that was NA-T from the Chicago area. He was making around 300-340whp from what I can recall and he went through about 3 W58s in a pretty short amount of time. These stories are going to vary from everyone you talk with. Some are going to tell you they are comfortably pushing 400-500+ whp on their W58, but it depends on how you baby it and how easy you go on it. Personally, I think it's ironic to build a high hp car and than resort to"babying" it.

my w58 was 1st on my 7mgte at roughly around 15lbs and now on my na-t with a gt35r at 11lbs i do plan on keeping the w58 setup permanently and plan to put down 550whp plus w58 ranges from 100-300 i can live with that
