violent misfire and strange noise overnight? video inside
Ive had a ticking for sometime, but the valve seal clearance turned out to be fine. I suspected it couldve been the timing belt tensioner, but I haven't had the time to tear it down and look with summer classes ( i sure will now).
I'm wondering if you guys had any insight on the noise or what could be causing such a violent misfire overnight? yesterday it ran fine. today i started it up to this. click picture to view the video: http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/r...705_114606.jpg I'm planning on first checking all the plugs/ wires for good connections (misfire) verifying cam bolts are tightened/secure verifying timing settings (misfire and noise hopefully) checking oilpan for shavings or any bad news. (would suck) then just tearing down and actually checking the timing belt tensioner et cetera. any other suggestions or steps? or ideas? |
Sounds like accessories belt or pulley. Remove the belt and see if the noise is gone

I really have a hunch that its related to timing but... how could it happen on its own overnight! thanks for the input btw. a second video of progress http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/r...705_163016.jpg |
found the issue. looking at the top of the timing belt it looked great, after a few rotations i noticed this:
