Default Check Engine (CEL) + Flashing Trac Off Light - How to read codes, Help please!

Hey guys,

I was wondering if I could get some help with this or from anyone else who has had the same experience.

I was driving home yesterday (Car running A+) like a top, and all of a sudden a few blocks from my house, I ended up getting a CEL and Trac off Blinking, and it went into Limp mode on the way home. Today, same issue, no limp mode though, I gently drove it around and seems to drive fine. Anyone else have this issue?

I know that the CEL is trying to tell me something, but how am I able to check the codes? Do I need a code reader or am I able to count the blinks kind of thing?

Any help would be SUPER Appreciated.

I'm a goof and forgot to say which car it was. its a 1998 SC400. I would assume that it is OBD2. Surprised that I couldn't find any threads on where the port may be?

Just wanted to put it out there got a 98 SC400 and it is reading codes P0441 – Purge flow
P0446 – Evaporative emission system, any ideas of what it could be exactly? What is the damage looking like cash wise?

Your purge control valve is on the driver side bank. If you look under the hood there is a vacuum diagram that shows you where it is. You would need to test the purge solenoid see if its bad.
