V160 -> UZ Revisited
Hello Everyone,
We are looking for a 2UZ->V160 mate solution different from what was done in the past, i.e. button-up clutch to the felxplate.
What we want is to retain most of the GTE factory setup outside of the custom flywheel of course. More towards:
* A flywheel that bolts up to the 2UZ (matching crank pattern, and ring gear)
* Provisions on the flywheel that accepts an push-pull type OEM GTE clutch assembly
* Aftermarket GTE clutch assembly
The goal is to keep this as near stock as possible, and taking advantage of the mass provided by a flywheel over a button up flex plate.
I have read a lot of the past projects on here. Basically know Scott's V160 swap by heart. Is there anyone that ventured into a project that sounds similar to what we are looking for?
Thanks in Advance,
Nick from Toronto.

Not that I know of to be honest. I don't think the bolt patter for crank are any different from the 1u to the 2u.
A lot of people modify the SW20 flywheel for the R154. The first thing I would do is find the diameter differences of the V160/1 clutch versus the R154 unit and go from there.
If the OD is the same then I would assume all you would have to do is drill new holes to accept the V160 pressure plate to the 3SGTE flywheel. Then elongate the holes to crank.
Of course this is just in my mind.

Hello ihiryu,
Thank you so much for your response. I have heard of people using the 3SGTE. Any idea if the ring gear is the same? Any input on this is extremly appreciated.
Nick.

I *believe* it is. I would try to check with superrunner first though.
I am using a different flywheel from the 3S so I can't say for sure or not if it's the same. However, you should check on the dimensions of the v160 pressure plate to the 3S flywheel first. No point of even considering this route if the pressure plate doesn't have same dimensions of the flywheel

Hello ihiryu,
Thank you so much for your resposne is "superrunner" a user here? Did no one ever venture into this? I know EdMorris just tackled this problem. Hope there is some tested applications out there.
Cheers
