Default 1UZ Automatic tranny options?

From what I have researched so far, the 1UZs tranny is not sufficient to hold anything over 350whp. What options are available to those who are looking to boost their V-8s yet retain the auto tranny?

Look into a valve body upgrade for starters, the Tampa SC boys have even come up with a way to mount a 5 spd R154 tranny to a 1uz

I prefer to stay with an automatic. Does anyone know how strong the A341E is? Of course, I am assuming that is what came in the SC400s.

Thanks. That was the information I was looking for. Now I just need to find someone who does the upgrade, preferably close by.

Is it worthwhile to install a shift kit?

What about a beefed up stall converter?

The upgrade will aid in the shift as well as them shimming the valves for higher line pressure and firmer shifts the TQ converters can get pricey$.

there are a zillion threads on transmission options, please do some searching before making a new thread about general transmission options. I edited the title and left this thread open on the discussion of 1uz auto options as there isn't as much info on here about that specifically, but this topic is well covered for the 2jz, and most of those non factory options will bolt up to a 1uz with a different adapter or bellhousing. engine management can become an issue depending on what auto you are talking about and thats why people try and upgrade the one in their car or go standalone.
