Default So my engine is cleaner than your mom, but it runs even rougher...

A few weeks back I decided to get my SC cleaned up for the first time in a few months. Yeah, adjusting to apartment life vs. a fully stocked garage sucks.

Anyway, I pressure washed the engine as I have done dozens of times before. However this time, the end result was a gloriously clean motor hole and an incredibly rough idle and run.

I checked all of the vacuum lines I could see from the top side. A neighbor suggested it could be electrical and needed to dry out- no dice. Upon cold start up she smokes out of the exhaust. The exhaust note is much louder than normal, obviously the idle is rough like vagine of wife, and when driving the car makes almost no power until top end. It even slams into gear instead of shifting smoothly. Slow revs until about 4.5k or 5k. After about 5k, the tach even goes limp like my jimmy and flicks up and down erratically.

I'm at a loss. My car hasn't moved in almost a month and I've been forced to drive my boring *** Infiniti Q45. My car is going to turn 100k in less than 100 miles and I can't stand the thought of it being in such condition when it does. Before I limp her in to the shop, anyone have any ideas?

One more thing to note: the CEL came on once in about 50 miles of driving as it is now. It went away after the next key cycle, though. Obviously being OBD1, I can really only take it to the dealer to read any codes.

Tried that, didn't find any water. That was the first thing I did after checking for loose vacuum lines.

The thing that makes me think it is some sort of vacuum line is the way the transmission is slamming into gear. My car has run just as smooth and silky as a new one the whole 7.5 years I've owned it. There has to be something that came undone for the instant change in driving characteristics.

I really need to just get under and look at everything.

i used to always clean my motor with a degreaser then spray water also. speaking of which i need to clean my 1jz. lol anyways.. i'm assuming you're still stock and word of advice take off the distributor cap and wipe off the inside.. i bet its moist in there.. had something like that happen to my honda once.. so if you have a distributor do that. i'm assuming the sc400 do right? if not excuse my lack of knowledge .

Pretty sure you can check codes with a paper clip? Diagnostic port by your foot, bridge te1 to e1.

Some get in the maf somehow?

Edit: here ya go, never dealt with diag stuff on a 400 but assumed it was the same and is. This even has the codes in there, took me 5 seconds and was the first result of query "how to check codes 92 sc400". I am usually vehemently against hand holding of this nature, but your thread title amused me.
