Default HELP! what is this ticking noise! video inside.

i have a gremlin thats driving me crazy. heres the info on it:

its a ticking noise:
*i measured valve clearance - all within fsm specs less than .15 on coldside .25 on hotside (iirc)
* removed serpentine belt, its not accessory related
* too soft to be a rod knock
*ive checked oil and filter contents, no shavings of any type
* doesnt affect performance at all
* SOUND GOES AWAY WITH HEAT! if i drive it hard, sound disappears but slowly comes back over the course of about 2 minutes; i thought of carbon build up at first but its definitely metal expansion.

outside of that i have no idea what it could be; its a 2jzge...

Wow, that's crazy. Do I also see a few teeth missing on the opposite side too? What brand of belt was this, and do you know how many miles were on it?
Nice find!

Thanks,
Rick

yea. the ticking came from the few teeth missing on the other side, it became progressively worse. (ending up in the long side).

it was the OEM timing belt im guessing (from the looks of the sludge on the front cover and lack of stamp on timing belt). which means it had 190k miles on it.

Crazy id say.
