Default Fuel pump noise FTL! Any ideas to shut it up?

I recently swapped my Walbro out for a Denso pump. The Denso is much quieter than the Walbro, but I can still hear it and it is annoying in a different way The Walbro was a loud, obnoxious wine. The Denso is a subtle, yet also annoying, high pitched whine. I liken it to a dog whistle or the sound a CRT emits when it is powered on. At any rate, do you suppose some high end sound deadening or something draped behind the back seat would fix this? Or, will the stock SC300 fuel pump ECU control a TT pump? Maybe because I am 12v modded it is just over-driving the pump 24-7 which I imagine makes it a lot worse.

Any other ideas? I am going crazy with all this racket!

I noticed my TT was also louder than stock also. When you say you 12 volt modded it, means ran a seperate power source form battery, or just tied the two wires in the driver side rear panel together? I ran a seperate relay and a 12 volt source from battery, grounded by the AEM.

Yeah I just tied the stock feed and bypassed the fuel pump ecu. I hate how the pump is right behind the back seat

12V is why it's loud. Plug the ECU back up (with a fixed one) and you'll be good again.

So the SC fuel pump Ecu works properly with an Aristo Ecu? I was pretty sure it would but wasn't sure.

This ^ LOL!

Seriously, I can't answer that one. I don't see any reason why not. All it's doing is dropping the voltage based on RPM/load. That voltage drop quiets/slows down the pump at idle.

If you bypass a stock sc300's fuel pump ecu, at idle it's loud (not WB loud, but loud enough).

Gotcha. I'm going to reverse the 12v mod and see what happens.

Well dang. I reversed the 12v mod and car wont start. I had to un-reverse it so the car would run and I could drive home Oh well. I am still planning to fix the FPC. I suspect I left the signal wire off or something else happened in the wiring because I got NOTHING on the signal pin when I cycled the key. I am going to trace it all out and make it work because I hear the Aristo ECU will for sure control the SC FPC. I'll keep this thread updated with my results.

Tried that. I want it quiet for real, not drowned out by even more noise.

Leave the 12v mod. The fuel pump ECU is useless. It is. Especially on a boosted engine.

Are you experiencing Radio noise, or is it coming from the bulkhead itself?

Cover the fuel tank in sound-deadening material. It's a big steel noise amp.
