Coolant Leak @ Back of Engine...Pull Trans or Engine?

Be sure to check the valley on top of the block to look for coolant puddled there. Mine had it, I just didn't check up top first, & jumped to the (wrong) conclusion that it was between engine & trans, where I saw the drip. It's kindof like the leak I had in my roof. Where you see it dripping is not necessarily where it's leaking.
Was your drip accompaied by a fair amount of steam? I crawled under the car yesterday becuase I had steam coming from behind the motor, and could see it leaking down in the same place but have yet to check the valley as you suggested.
