Default Stock 1992 SC400 dies after starting

It doesn't always happen, it only seems to happen if the car has sat for awhile, like overnight. If I run into the store or a restaurant for awhile, and then come back out, it doesn't do it.

I'll crank the car up, sometimes it'll immediately die, sometimes I can get it into gear and start driving, but it'll die quickly after. I'll turn it "off" and crank her back up, but it will die again. It will do this 10+ times in a row. If I crank it up and IMMEDIATELY give it RPMs, to a little over 1000, and hold for a bit, then slowly let it down, I'll be good to go.

Now, before someone scream SEARCH or GOOGLE I have done quite a bit of research on this. Apparently the most common issue is the Fuel Pump ECU, where it has 2 settings, for normal driving and then heavy acceleration. The fix is supposedly cutting 2 of the power wires to the ECU so only the 12v wires are left, so it only operates in the heavy mode.

Culprit number 2 is supposedly a bad or dirt MAF.

Third, and this is what I believe my problem to be, is a bad valve or similar in the fuel cap or some such thing, causing vapor lock. The reason I believe this to be my issue is because every time I unscrew my gas cap, a lot of compressed fumes will escape, it's kinda freaky and scares those not expecting it.

My issue is, I haven't found a fix for this. What does one do to solve vapor lock? Is this my issue, or should I just go ahead with the Fuel Pump ECU mod?

Try the fuel pump mad 1st as it should be done anyhow since it adds an element of reliability plus its a 15 min job.

I read its more like a 45 minute job, so with my mechanical ineptitude it'll be like an hour and a half lol.
