Default SC400 heater: out of commision! Assist.

Hi There,

1992 SC400, heater decided to stop working a few months ago... added coolant and topped it off, but that didn't seem to help much. Heat functions when driving at highway speed for long periods, or accelerating rapidly, but fades away quickly.

I'm freezing to death it seems, anyone know what the car needs?

I second that, chaaacmol,

I opened the hood, and found the valve, (i recognized it from pics of the part for sale on the bay,) but cant seem to find any moving parts on it, and i pushed and twisted almost everything. A pic would be cool, just rip a picture from a website and circle the part in question in red to be pushed/ziptied open, etc

Thanks so much.

Hi, problem in question was not the heater control valve, (which works fine) but the radiator was rotting out and was leaking fluid. With a breached radiator, there's not enough fluid pressure to activate the valve.

Have replaced with an aftermarket radiator and cap, and the car now heats right up.
