Default JDM 2JGE weaker than USDM version?

I've been hearing this every now and then lately. I call bull****, because they should be the exact same, right? Anybody have some insight?

same motor. no difference.

long block wise. its all the same bro.

cams are different, so maybe it makes slightly less power, but engine wise they are built the same.

What you're being told is probably about the GTE motors. JDM and USDM GTE motors have different tubos and different ecu tunes.
