2jzge position sensor??
 

94 sc300 2jzge I was told the crankshaft position sensor was on the front passanger side of the block behind the crank pully/water pump/alternator. I also seen pictures of where it is to be. I looked its not there. Is there another place it could be?

U don't have one, the ecu gets the signal from the distributor

if this car doesn't have a crank position sensor, what could be making the car act as if it had a bad crank sensor? symptoms is that when i go to start in the morning i won't start unless i floor it and hold it at 2k rpms, and while the rpms are climbing to 2k it will backfire (pretty loud bangs in the engine bay) and it won't stop doing it until it's at operating temp. but when it's warm it fires right up without problems, also idles fine and smoothly

distributor...there are 4 signals to the ECU from this sensor. 2 are a pos/neg for cam position, and 2 are pos/neg for crank position.

so would this mean that i have to replace the distributor itself? or is it something that can be taken out of the dizzy and replaced?

I'm sure the internal component could be replaced, but I"m not sure who you would get to do that.

hmmm well seems like i'm better off buying a new one, thanks man! i asked on the gs forums and yet no one decided to answer..

I'm not sure how pricey a new one would be, but I would try and test your current one just to see if the findings are within spec before you bite the bullet and spend the money on a part that isn't 100% for sure the problem.

the sensors in the distributor are not replaceable. if it isfact the distributor you can find a used working one or buy a new one but I imagine the cost for a new one is out there. definately go to toyota not lexus and ask for on from an n/a supra if you want to go with a new one.
