Just search BFI. Plenty of results come up.

did you intend to have the link pull up the NO searches found? or lol
personally i refuse to butcher my intake..
some look good some dont. Never could find a nice easy way to do it and keep any filter clean for very long. they all seem to cause too much crud to hit the filter

The search link itself only works on your local PC where the search was executed, need to post the results threads instead.

^^^thats not BFI....That's a cone filter...big difference.

EDIT: This is BFI:

http://planetsoarer.com/BFIDIY/BFIDIY.html

The difference, is your open element filter may have a larger surface area, meaning a higher volume of air, but 70%+ of the air is going to be hot air pulled from the engine compartment itself. A BFI, as pictured in the link above and the ones below, prevent/lower that heated air from entering the intake, and because the main focus of the air travel is still from the front of the vehicle, the air is still a cooler charge than the open element filter.

Hence, with my intake on my SC, I will be building a heat shield, cause like you at the moment I have an open element filter. Build a heat shield behind your filter, and it will prevent the hotter air from entering the intake path. But a BFI in the terms of an SC, means using the stock airbox with a larger opening in the front.

Hopefully no one cries on this one or starts calling me the "search police", but all you gotta do is search and I promise you will find your answer:

These are just some of the better examples I found really quick, there are more out there, different versions, etc.

If you read, it is beneficial. There won't always be one person who will hold your hand for every process.

It has been proven time and time again that its more beneficial than an aftermarket intake. As for discussing details, I dont know what more you want in detail...I mean, its not hard to cut a large hole in the front of your stock airbox.

Also take note, with increased air flow In, you have potential to have increased flow out, if you also get any exhaust work done, aka cutting cat, all this on your soarer, causes turbos to spool a bit more, and in colder weather especially, you WILL hit boost cut/fuel cut whatevr.. and so therefore you should also invest in a FCD *fuel cut defender*.

the whole Intake and exhaust as it is stock, is designed to help regulate/restrict the spooling of the turbos and the boost you end up creating.

^^That is true, with turbocharged cars..but Im pretty sure were talking about n/a. But you are right, with the cooler dense air charge, boost is reached quicker and air volume is actually increased.
