I think cost and power are the biggest concerns with a supercharger set up. Supercharger upgrades cost atleast $3,000 to $4,000 on average to start with and the power upgrade levels are low, compared to a turbo install. The next concern is that if you want to upgrade the supercharger install, it will cost another $2,000. The last concern for me is fuel mileage. A lot of the factory nissan and toyota supercharged vehicles got 10-12 mpg.

Turbo setups to me are more cost effective all the way around. Plus they will get 20 mpg.

I think why some of us wanna go supercharged is to have aomething different. TT swaps and NA-T's are everywhere. That and i can only imagine how fun it will be driving a supercharged 2jz.

I definately get that, For me $3,00 for 100 hp increase is not a good trade off. That is why i did a 2jna-t swap in my Datsun 260z. And it cost me less than $300. Pop the hood and, Hey thats not supposed to be in there..

I understand that sentiment but this is more of a "wow that's different, why would you do that?"

Compound turbos would get you a "wow that's different, cool!" if that's what you're really looking for

If someone could figure out a way to use a factory supercharger off another car and keep the cost down, i would say go for it. Or if you got a hell of a deal on one.

^^ This is the case with 1UZ engines, anyway. But rarely is keeping costs low a part of a supercharger setup unless it's an off the shelf Mustang or Camaro kit. And even then, they aren't excessively cheap.

I had a powerdyne setup on my sc300, i think u need to remove the distributor on a non vvti as thats where the blower sits. I bought my whole setup on ebay for 700 with an emanage and all. Sold it two years later for a profit. It ran about 9lbs at redline with full exhaust and no intercooler.
