Default smoke from passengerside firewall

Hi everyone hope im doing this right. 92 sc400 122000 miles. Yesterday and today after coming home i noticed smoke coming from under the hood on passengers side near the firewall and also smelled something like rubber burning. I popped the hood and looked where the smoke was coming from . Its this big rubber looking thing attached to the the upper firewall passengerside. I peeled back the rubber part almost like a boot? a lil and actually could see that it looked red like something was heating up. i guess that explains the smoke and smell lol. My question does anyone know what it is? All my gauges etc stayed in normal mode and car drove fine . i didnt notice until i saw the smoke. It seems to happen only after i drive at high speeds above 50mph. thanks so much if anyone can help
