diesel turbo on a 1jz
The current turbo, damn ebay, on my 1jz is going out, i blow smoke everywhere on hotsdays and when im oil runs thin. I got offered a t3t4 with a 60 cold and 84 outlet that came off an deseil turbo dodge truck for my SAFC and 440cc injectors
which is the same size turbo im running but with a slightly bigger inlet,
IM sure itll bolt up to my set up, other than testing for shaft play should i be worried about anything else? there shouldnt be a problem running a desiel turbo on a gas engine, or at least i hope

Well diesel turbo's are designed differently. Diesel's usually make power at around 2k while gassers are around 6k so diesel turbos spin slower and get into boost at a way lower rpm.

^?????? slower? i'd think not but just alot more volume of air a diesel can push through it at a lower rpm...
well you gotta think that a diesel... say off a dodge is a 5.9L and compression ratio of 17:1 but a max rpm of 3-4k? so yeah...
only difference between a "gas turbo" and "diesel turbo" is diesel turbos (oem) were made to suite the motor it was intended for so sometimes larger wheels and or a/r's but there are some.. i.e the Hx35 that may do well for gas as well as long as you using it in its optimal range
to the OP sounds like what you were talking about is a turbo off a dodge diesel with a T3 flange and a .60 a/r cold side and a .84 hot side? i doubt a diesel would run a T3 frame turbo...
if the wheels measure about the same and the A/R on the turbine housing are similar to what you were running i'd say it should work.... but might want to get it rebuilt anyways or save up for a nice one

You mean, like this?

The only difference between diesel turbos and gas turbos, other then the size, is the diesel turbo was built to withstand huge amounts of abuse, with EGT's skyrocketing all the time, Compressor surge (There is no BOV on a Cummins), and the ability to run boost pressures up to 45psi yeah, they rock.
HX35 is like a Journal bearing GT35R in terms of flow.
I can't wait to rip mine around!

A guy that I know made about 420WHP on a 1jz with a Turbo off of Diesel application. He was making full boost by 3200 RPMS. Last time I heard he was selling his set up over by supramania.com
I am currently working on a 2jzge na-t on my mk3 using a garrett GT35 from a Diesel application 65 Ar/ If Iam not mistaken its got a 71 or76 EX... will make about 450 HP. I was told by a guy that rebuilds turbos for a living and,He personally took a look of my turbo.
usedturbos.
