Default AC Compressor suction/discharge plate removal

Hello all,

Just finished installing new R12 AC compressor and dryer. Everything back on except the top plate where the suction and discharge lines attach. The old one has 4 torx head bolts. I have soaked with penetrating oil but they won't budge. A 40 torx is too small and a 45 is too big. Tried to use a 6mm allen but it starts to strip the bolt so stopped.

Would appreciate any suggestions. Wen't to Oreilly's and Autozone but neither had the right socket. They suggested a Lexus dealer. I can't believe there is not a way for us DIY'rs to take this off. The new compressor did not come with a new cover.

Thanks for the help,

LMA

Remove Compressor again (I know), cut torx off, extract, re-install something you can use.

I had a hell of a time doing mine.

They were allen heads, but an allen wrench didn't have enough torque, and the allen sockets I have are too shallow.

I had to grind away some of the housing to get to that one.
