Default quantum auto spacer on w58, measurement for shims?

In the middle of the swap here and getting confused, would appreciate input from those that have done the swap using the quantum auto kit. Did you have to make measurements to determine the number of shims to be used on top of the spacer before you put on the throw out bearing? Did you secure the fork on the release bearing to the w58. There is not much info on this part here on the write ups so i was wondering what everybody did. Thanks for the input.
