Default SC400 A.C. delete

Yes I am planning to delete the entire A.C. system on my 93 SC400. I will weigh the components and store it all in a box. Looking at the water pump pulley if I dont use an eliminator pulley, then the back side of the serp. belt will only ride on 1/3 of the water pump instead of 2/3s. Hopefully someone else has already done this to know if it is enough belt to turn the pump under high RPM. I know Dorman makes some A.C. eliminator brackets with pulley. Search button dosent work.

I called Dorman today and they said they do not currently make an A.C. eliminator bracket and pulley. So it looks like were back to less belt hitting the water pump. Surely theres an old thread on this. Nothing comes up on the search button.

Ive wrapped a string around the pulleys, less the A.C. Looks like it should work. Going to the parts store to get a belt today and give it a try.

The second belt that I tried was a perf. fit. Looks good Ill drive it to work and back Thurs. and make sure theres no overheating due to less belt on the water pump.

FYI, The water pump is driven by the timing belt.

The pulley I assume you are reffering to as the water pump is the hydro pump for the fan system, would be the clutch fan pulley on an LS400...

Yeah, the water pump is the one thats getting less belt. I had time to start it up tonight and you could rev it up and it was good, but when in gear and under acceleration ,the belt would squeal. I bought a good Dayco belt. I will have to go back to the O.E. set up until I figure something else out. I can at least remove the A.C. hoses out of my way.

Apparently I had the wrong belt. Im using a Goodyear Gatorback belt and it works great. I pulled the compressor today it and the lines only weigh 20lbs, Im sure the condensor will be the other 15. It really frees up a lot of room in the engine bay. Oil filter changes are going to be a breeze

hey i am currently doing the same thing on a 95 i have everything out except the compressor... did you have to get a pully to take the compressors spot or did it work with just a belt and how long of a belt?? and it does free up alot of room

It would be nice if you posted up a part number so we'd atleast know what to look for at the part store...

The best belt ever, Goodyear Gatorback. I used a 4060640 on my 93 SC4 with no prob. If I were doing over would get a 4060635 for a little more tension. I havent tried that belt to verify that its not to short yet.

The smaller belt was the best. Works great.
