Default Diagnostics - Engine dies at idle

96SC 300 stock. I purchased it with a lot of stereo equipment and amps are definitely a drain. I had power issues when I first purchased last fall so I changed battery. Everything good. The car sat most of winter although I did start every so often to move out of the way.

Now-

The car starts like a champ with a jump. It will continue to run as long as I keep just even a touch of gas. As soon as I let go of gas it dies. It will not start again unless I jump.

I'm thinking alternator. If that's the case I have a followup question. I have a parts car with a 1jzgte. Will that alternator drop in with no issues?

Thanks in advance.

alternator off the 1JZ will bolt to the block, but the plugs may be different. What is the car's battery charging at? Does disconnecting the stereo stuff make any difference? Parasitic draw on the battery? It could be the battery got killed again while sitting over the winter and won't hold charge meaning nothing else will work properly. If the battery holds charge and the alternator checks out, reset computer memory and clean out the idle air control to see if that makes a difference

Simply add an idle jet cleaner to the gas tank and it will remove all the gunge preventing tick over.

Had the same problem with my RX. Spent €400 having the plugs changed to no avail. Finally solved it for $20 by adding an injector cleaner to the gas tank, which removed all the gunge blocking the idle jets
