Default '99 SC300 Idle Vibration - Major Tune Up Recently Done

Hey guys,

I'm usually one to search and I searched a lot but many of the answers came up for pre 97 SC300's and 400's.

I got a 1999 SC300 and just did a major tune up (timing belt, plugs, water pump, etc..the usual). Randomly at times i'll be at a red light and the vibration in the steering wheel and just all over the front dash comes into play and the idle dips very low. Some days its worse than others, sometimes its ok. Feels like something is dirty inside or maybe my MAF is bad? I read some posts that MAF is the incorrect answer and many people change that when its not generally the problem.

Not sure what to look at, these models are different than the pre-97 ones which I have another '94 sc300. These models seem more electrical based and I don't wanna screw with anything cus its the daily beater for my dad and I.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Your engine & transmission mounts are most likely bad.

account2x,

The engine/transmission mounts will cause the idle to dip VERY low? When I'm at a red light and it dips really low (3-400rpm approx.) I just put it in neutral and press on gas a bit and the vibration goes away. How does that mean the mounts are bad? Btw, I'm just asking not being a d*ck about it....

And I go to UCI too, what kinda SC do u have? I've seen a few modded ones, let's meet up!

Vibration and low RPM at idle?
Letting go of the brake and driving stops the vibration?
Putting the transmission into neutral minimizes or stops the vibration while causing the RPM to increase?

If you said YES that means your engine mounts are bad.

Search for low idle in the GS400 section. Common issue for them.

The Lexus motor mounts trade durability for luxury therefore your 99 SC300 mounts aren't as durable as the 98 Supra mounts so they wear faster. Get the Supra mounts.

I definitely am looking into this...does anyone else want to chime in maybe confirm this or have a different opinion...no offense just don't wanna go out and start fixing something if i'm not for sure on the issue...thanks for the answer tho bro!
