Default pte billet 5857...im in love

Sold my gt40 turbo and got a pte 5857 billet journal bearing with .58 t4 housing. This turbo is perfect for the 1j I hit full boost at 3,800 rpm the gt40 hit at 4,900 and it pulls harder then the gt40 at lower boost. Going to dyno in two weeks. Stock motor n cams ,afc neo, 550's ect.

Stay tuned

That's one small hot side.
I expect the torque to drop off quite rapidly with the .58.
You'll gain low to mid range but expect a drop on top end.

that is way to small for a 1j. you're going to have blistering torque but top end where the 1j is suppose to shine, it wont be. because its billet, it will spin fast and you'll make power but you wont hold it because that back housing will choke your motor. just some fyi

I'm glad you like the turbo man but.. my 6465 with a .71ar comes in just past 4krpm's it is also billet. I have cams with 550's too, and my exh manifold and turbine manifold are ceramic coated. I also hear that coating the turbine wheel will cause heat deflection and also help with spool. I bet this is a good drift turbo though, I say you get a bigger exh housing and put up some dyno numbers.

well, lets wait until the dyno graph, but I'm inclined to agree that there will be 'some' loss of top end, but it's not like he slapped a 16g on there. i think it should still perform admirably below 20psi.

Any updates? This could sway me to go with a smaller precision turbo...

I still need to fine tune it and dyno it.but what I noticed from forums for years is a bunch of people assumeing stuff without real world experience. For my goals of 500 n daily driver..... .58 exhaust works perfectly. I had .81 and hated it. The car pulls harder down low and to redline. So no the 1j is not choked...haha. I think out of the box...6262 .81 is prob. What everyone would do. But based on my goals and 1j characteristics....5857 all day! I had thoughts of .58 being small based on online bench racing non facts....but I'm happy then I ran into two different supra guys that were both making 600 whp useing .68 exhaust sides on the 2jz....and made me feel even better....haha

This FTW!!!

As long as you're happy, and making good power, who cares how 'small' the turbo is! Waiting for Dyno results, homie!
