Default Ebay intercooler IATs...Post if you know them.

I know some of you guys run ebay intercoolers and have standalones or some other means of logging IATs.

Can you guys post up your intercooler size/brand and IAT numbers?

Of course I expect the numbers to change with weather, but an x% above ambient or and average temp will do.

I suppose it would also help to have boost numbers, hp, and whether or not you run alky/meth/water injection...

Im trying to establish what kind of boost/hp levels these intercoolers are good for while maintaining safe IATs. Many people have reported that they make XXXRWHP through them, but they have no clue what their actual temps are, so their info is not helpful.

TIA to anyone who can/will help.

Since IAT's would be effected by so many variables; it would more beneficial if people have both pre and post intercooler numbers. Having those two numbers would be more consistent.

it also matters where your IAT is located. If you have it in the wrong spot it can very over 50 degrees just from heatsoak. I know first hand =(

Both good points, but if you have any data, post it up along with those details so we can take environmental variables into account.

I have made over 500rwhp with ebay IC and i got for free from my buddy, my AIT is around 86 after a couple of pulls.
This was on Na-T and no Turbo blanket, stock intake monaifold and TB.

Dang 86 is not too shabby. What was ambient, or was it pretty consistent regardless of outside temp?

his setup was in the summer and it was pretty consistent. My setup was very similar at the time but I have my IAT mounted horribly and it would start the same but eventually heatsoak up to 140 degrees which I know was not accurate at all.

Gotcha. My old 5.0 had the IAT sensor screwed into the stock location in the lower intake manifold, and it became so heatsoaked it was useless for tuning once the car warmed up.

i was running 12x24x3" till I put a big dent in mine. I went down to the same side intercooler setup which is much smaller and nothing really changed.

I did put 2 electric puller fans on the back of my intercooler though for fun cause I noticed it heats up quick at lights and takes a bit of driving just to cool down again. I haven't seen anyone else do this but now when Im sitting at a light, my IAT's do not fluctuate.
If it works for a radiator, it will work for an intercooler is what I say.

i put my IAT on the wrong location (inside engine bay near pass. headlight) b/c i read some thread that said to put it in the location but it turned out to be wrong. it's supposed to be behind the front bumper away from the engine heat. anyways since i'm to lazy to get a new intercooler piping to relocate it, i just disabled mines. i'm running the Map Ecu 2 btw.
