Cranking boost to just below fuel cut...safe?
So I was thinking about just cranking my boost as far as the stock ECU will let me before fuel cut. If I read correctly this is somewhere int the 14psi region? I would assume that anything below fuel cut should be safe, right?
I have a dyno session scheduled for Friday, and wanted to run it stock, and then maybe up the boost by a few PSI to see if I can squeeze a few more ponies out without going too crazy. Most people I read about seem to go straight for a BCC and 17PSI which seems a bit dangerous. I would prefer to keep the safety net of fuel cut until I have better fuel and some sort of tuning device or standalone. What do you guys think? Is it even worth upping the boost by like 3psi? |
depends on what you consider "safe"... i'm not an sc300 expert but 99% of cars i've worked with, upping the boost that much without any kind of tuning seems like a horrible idea... hopefully some experts can chime in?

Very true. I am going to put it on the dyno and up the boost and see what AFRs do.

there is nothing unsafe about upping the boost to right below boost cut.
just make sure you use a good controller and/or set it so a small spike doesn't send you into boost cut. you should not have any fueling problems unless you are using the bcc and going over boost cut. |
That's kinda what I figured too. Thanks Ali.
