Default swapping companion flange for the getrag v160 and gs400 diff

My mechanic was in the process of dropping in my v160 when he ran into a snag today. He said I'm gonna need to buy another companion flange from an sc300 diff so he can swap it over. Can he just remove my old companion flange from my old driveshaft? I have a gs400 rear diff and custom driveshaft made to fit the v160 and gs400 diff.

For those people with the gs400 rear end, custom driveshaft and v160, did you have to swap over the rear companion flange of the pumpkin to an sc300 companion flange?

If the DS is make for V160 and GS400 end,and you are not using the GS rear end you can just swap the flange from the Your stock Diff to GS4 rear flange.
My question are:
What Diff do you have?
Was the DS made for V160 and GS4 rear end?

I am using a gs400 rear end and a custom driveshaft made to fit the v160 and gs400 rear end. After doing some searching, the rear flange bolt is 35mm right? I'm gonna have my mechanic swap out my stock companion flange from the sc pumpkin over to the gs pumpkin.

Why do you need to swap the flange if it's already made for the GS400 rear and you are using the GS rear!!!

yeah, if you have to swap the flange to an SC flange then your DS is for a v160 to a SC rear end (not a gs400 like you are saying).

Unless you swapped the GS4 flange with SCXXX one before the V160 swap and you were using the GS4 rear with SC flange in that case yes you will need to buy the GS400 flange from lexus.
Because the GS diff will not bolt up to the SC Drive shaft unless you swap the flange.

Because it won't fit the GS flange. I bought the driveshaft used and he claimed it would fit the GS flange.

So just swap it with the SC flange and it will work.

Yes 35mm deep socket, once swapped don't over tighten it the nut ot the flange will be rubbing against the casing.

I don't know the tq spec but as long as it's snug you will fine but don't over tq it because the back of the flange will be rubbing on the diff.

See this thread. There is a right and wrong way to do this. Any good mechanic will know the right way.
