Default HKS, Magnaflow, or Megans exhaust - which gives best bang.

What's up CL family,

I am ready to buy an exhaust (dual pipes mufflers) for my 95 sc400. I want a really deep but nice sound that goes good with my current stock setup.

I also will be converting my stock motor to a 2JZ in the near future, and don't want to buy a muffler twice. Which is the best way to go for the best results now and when the engine is swapped. Hks(hi flow), magnaflow(14829), or the Megans dual system.

I've been told to start from the resonators back, until the swap is done.
Should I go with 2 1/2, or 3, or 3 1/2 inch piping from there.
And if so, should I get an x pipe as well?
I need advice.......

Do custom exhaust straight 3inches from downpipe and on. Net you the most power if you can handle the noise and emissions isn't a problem.

Youll want to go 3in if you plan on dropping a 2jz gte (im assuming haha) and X pipe if keeping dual to balance the flow as best you can. Although while on the stock motor going 3in piping you will lose gain due to not enough back pressure.

I've run duel 3" magna flows on my Sc and it sounds good. Not too loud but pretty deep and not raspy. I eventually switched to a Full 4" system that I built with One straight through 4" muffler. Sounds good, but pretty loud.

Here is a video of my car with the Duel magnaflow's.

how long before you plan to do the swap? if youre going to do it soon just drop the motor then go 3" if its going to be a while i suggest going 70mm/2.75". it's small enough to give you enough back pressure so you wont feel like its bogging and large enough for when you plan to go turbo. i wouldnt go anything less for a turbo motor and if you dont want to do it twice its a good compromise. otherwise save the money for the exhaust and get the swap done sooner

Thats an amazing 4" doesnt sound too loud unless your wot. I have a 3" with only a resonator and its not too bad either. I suggest go with 3" that way you wont have to build another exhaust.

Thanks bro. Emissions are every 2 years here in Md.
Good advice, but don't want it too loud either.

Very good advice bro. I plan to with a 2JZ and a single turbo. the x pipe would really help to balance the flow. Instead of just doing the whole system right now and losing gain on the stock motor. I might just go with the "3" mufflers for the time being. The swap is not going to be done until after winter is over and I drive it daily................good look!!

Good look Lawrence!!!!!

The Magnaflow "3" exhaust sounds just like what im looking for.
Deep with a growl, but not too much.

The "4" setup sounds like a race car!!!! Really, really good. But a little too much for me on my SC.......thanks for the clips. Very good examples.

Good idea. Thanks for the breakdown.

Doing it twice is not an option.
