Default 30-40LS transmission vs 30-40LE transmission

Does anyone have any further information on the differences between the 2?

I'm used to the 30-40LE transmission. However, I have a 30-40LS sitting here.

Google provides some information, but not tons.

The LS came in the VVTi cars, so I'm curious to know exactly what changed.

According to Aisin (manufacturer):

Engine Combined Electronically Control
with Lock-up Slip Control
Features:

4-speed AT with the engine combined the control suitable for 3.5 liter class, the highest-grade model in 30 series
It sounds to me like it's just a fancy name for having the main ECU also control the transmission to some degree. If that was the case, it might not be much different internally than the 3040LE.

I also have a 30-40ls. Wonder if it is worth anything because I do not need it.

wake the dead wake the dead. i have my 30-40ls sitting here opened up with the valve body removed. i'm curious about differences also. the valve body is certainly different with a few extra solenoids. wonder if this is the lock slip control, or perhaps a tiptronic sport shift function in later model aristos? toyota went to the length of changing the code to an "s" for some kinda reason

30-40LS is the Tiptronic version of the A340E.

Loads of information here if the page works for you?
