Default SC400 + 1JZ + 1JZ AC compressor = Need your help!

Guys,

I have a 1JZ in my 92 SC400 (bought it like this.) Anyway, it looks like the installer welded the SC400 lines to the 1JZ compressor. So now, I didn't have a low pressure valve to refill my freon. From what I understand, the low pressure valve was on the SC400 compressor. I know it is over by the pass firewall in the SC300.

So how do I refill the AC with welded SC400 hardlines running to the 1JZ compressor?

there has to be a fill port somewhere

why would the installer waste the time to weld the lines on then have no way to fill it?

sorry no sc400 here so i dunno where they should be, but there should be one... or a 3rd grader did the install

Yeah you'd think so. It was done by Snap/Dynosaur and they are ZERO help in trying to fix issues. Their response when I call them is "I can't diagnose it over the phone. Bring it down here."

OK, let me go drive 5 hours for something you could spend 30 seconds answering I understand they don't make any money helping people answer questions over the phone, but you'd think with them doing the install that they would at least give me an answer...

I can't find the low pressure port anywhere

Hold on a minute, when u say they welded the lines to the compressor, do you mean if you wanna change the compressor, the lines have to go as well?. if you cant find fill port one, you might have to get another 1jz compressor, and lines if you want ur AC to work. i have a 1jz compressor if thats the case

You can have a shop refill it through the high side, Thats what I will be doing once I change out my compressor since it's shot!

I was told that they sell these special flanges that they insert into the low pressure line that act as a fill port. I need to see if my mechanic is able to do it, or else if I need to bring it to someone who specializes in AC...

Thx guys,
Jonny

i believe they are the same part...the difference would be R12 vs R134a compressors.

LOL - I would take a look and see. I have no idea why they do it the way they do? Why not just add a low pressure port to the line before they put it in? Or have the correct line made?

Does your speedometer work?

I am having my mechanic try to charge from the high pressure side to see if that works, but it's not always successful. If not, he is going to remove the low pressure line and have a new one built with a port...

Seems as though Snap does an amazing job at doing some shoddy work. 2 of my cars came from them one i took the other was built by them and sold to me from someone else... i know this is on old post but now I can see i was not the only one
