So after taking an hour to yank the air box out, I've come to the conclusion that I can't get the damn thing to separate from that O2 sensor (I also touched that when my hands were dirty, is that a problem?).

So before I go ANY further, I have to ask a few questions:

1) How the hell do I separate that O2 filter from the rest of the setup?

2) If I can't get that long extended piece back in which sucks in the colder air, will that be a problem?

3) Is just cutting a hole in the box for freer air more efficient than the stock setup?

Ok, I was able to detach the O2 sensor, and I still need to know whether I should attempt to clean it or not.

So, I have a '96 model if that makes a difference, and I noticed that the airbox doesn't have screws leading into the O2 sensor area like you see in this box on ebay:

Instead, it connects directly to the O2 sensor housing.

And is pulling out that right headlight any trouble? I can't get the last bolt on the airbox feeder.

And finally, is there a big difference between a K&N filter and a Spectre?

Ok, so I've gone as far as I can and I just need to know the following:

1) Is cutting the giant hole in the airbox better than the stock set tup?

2) I have a Spectre filter right now and it looks a little warped. Is a K&N that much better?

3) Where can I find instructions for removing the right headlight?

4) Will the O2 sensor be ok now that I've touched it with dirty hands or is there something I need to do?

By O2 sensor do you mean the MAF sensor? The big metal tube? If so, then as long as you didn't touch the actual thing inside you're fine. And I would toss the spectre filter right now and get either a stock paper filter or a K&N. And yes cutting a hole in the front will not only give you a couple hp, but also make the car sound much better.

As for the headlight, there is one screw on top of it that you can see, and two 10mm nuts behind. To get to the nuts, you need to jack the car up, unbolt the fender liner between the fender and the front bumper, and reach up in there with an extension. It's a bit tricky the first time, but you'll get the hang of it.

Yeah... Is the MAF the sensor that is right behind the airbox?

Because I definitely touched the part inside... What should I do?

If I leave the snorkel in while cutting the hole in the box will any problems arise as a result of this?

when i did mine I cut a big hole in the top of the box, and left the stock snorkel in place on the bottom. once you cut it be sure to get all the plastic pieces out. that way the snorkel can still suck up some cold air, sort of like a mix. heres a pic of the first one I made.
