One shifts by itself....the other requires some driver input...

OK, let me try this again. I was reading about R154's and guess just had them on my brain when I typed:

How can you tell which transmission is connected to a 1jz? It is an auto, just not sure which auto... Are there any telltale markings or anything that would indicate what model trans it is?

Are you referring to a R154 compared to a W58? Cause i once thought i had a R154 when i 1st bought my car but later down the road found out it was a W58...
