She stunk, smoked, then died....
93 SC400
Everything has been bliss but on the way home today I get a strong smell that reminded me of brakes or maybe overheating but no change in the thermostat. Car had sat all day and I had gone maybe 2 miles from garage.
Noticed shake and then a puff of steam or smoke around front drivers side, near battery. Car died.
Won't restart, just turns over like she gets no spark.
Gave a OBD code of 12 which charts say is: 12 Knock Control Sensor signal.
Ideas?

the smoke was just a small puff and yes it smelled like either overheating brakes or overheating coolant. Neither system shows any trouble so I don't think I have a brake or overheating issue.
A friend suggested the timing belt and I am praying that is not the case as that is a spendy repair even if nothing else got ****ed up. I was at a stop when it puffed and died so if it was the belt I am praying that no valves got bent.
BTW 93 SC400

Yup, I did until I left the hazards on for almost 2 hours in traffic but yes I can jump it and turn the ignition over np. It just turns away with no problem but it sounds like no spark.
I am going to go home and pull the dist cap and try to turn the engine over and see if the rotor moves, I was told this was the easiest way to see if the belt is snapped.

92-94 is a non interferance motor so nothing to worry about on that issue. I did the same thing on my 93sc400, started smelling something burning & it was the timing belt white smoking on the timing belt pully (bearing had locked up) untill it let go @ 60mph @ full throttle with smoke billowing out the back. it shut off & i tried to start it & all it did was turn over like there was no spark or fuel. That probably what happened. you can also take one of your cam gear covers of to see the belt.
