Default heat shield vs. turbo blanket

Can some one please break down the difference between the two besides the fact 1 wraps around the whole exhaust side and the other is like a protection plate? which one would be a better buy so that i wont have to put a big piece of sheet metal between the lines and the turbo?

thanks in advance

One big difference is that one still releases all that heat under your hood, but just deflects it a bit. The other contains it more in your exhaust stream, ultimately sending it out the tailpipe. Overall, your underhood temps should be lower with a blanket (and header wrap) than with simple shielding.

thanks for that, but wouldnt the blanket hurt the turbo because its trapping the heat?

turbo's are made to get hot, hopefully its a water/oil cooled turbo and in that case it would just take a few seconds longer to cool down.

Not while it's running. Debatable after shutdown, but a timer should alleviate that.

^^ IMHO, putting some of that new titanium heat wrap on the manifold works even better than paying for ceramic coating. Do the downpipe too
