Seafoam Vs the stuff Jiffy Lube/Valvoline pushes..
So I have used Seafoam before, just not in the oil.
I know my engine has some "muck" in it and could use a good cleaning. Every time I go to Valvoline/Jiffy Lube they try to sell me a $150 service that "breaks up all the built up goo" and it sure sound a lot like what Seafom does when you put it in the oil.
Does anyone know how the stuff they use compares to doing the Seafoam yourself?
I was even thinking of putting the seafoam in myself and letting them change the oil after, then going back in a week for another change.
Thoughts and opinions??

I've used seafoam on my old 240sx, my old GTR, and 2 sc400's. It works pretty well in cleaning up the gunk. I put 1/3 into the gas tank, 1/3 into the crank case, and 1/3 into the vacuum lines. Do that and just do the oil change your self.

i would stick with just the seafoam stuff. It's not as effective as the "engine flush" deal that jiffy lube tries to push on you, but that's actually a good thing. Those so called engine flushes are actually NOT recommended by car manufacturers because the flush chemical that they use can dislodge sludge deposits and potentially clog up the oil pickup and...game over. Stay away from the engine flush deal, just get some seafoam (personally i do half in the crank case and half through a vacuum line) and get the oil change done right after you've done it. Honestly though i would stay away from jiffy lube, cheap work comes at a price later in the game.
