I'm posting this thread because I need your guys help/opinions on how to go about this dilemma i've come across with my newly acquired Sc. I bought the car 5 weeks ago and have been doing overhaul maintenance, and finally got around to the spark plugs 3 days ago, I got the TB off fairly easily and went to work. My one plug boot was very loose (I had had an intermittent misfire so was happy to see this seemed to be the only problem). However, upon further inspection when I shined my drop light down into the hole for cylinder #4 I saw the metal top of the plug, the white porcelain portion of the plug, but no nut... I still cannot figure out how this is even possible but from what I can tell whoever replaced the plugs last, broke the nut completely off the plug while it was in the head.

So what I need is advice or opinions on how to go about getting the plug out of the head, preferably without ruining the head. And don't say "get a new head, or take off the head" because I'd like to know of any ways to get it out without having to do a complete teardown of the engine.

vice grips... lol. safest way is head removal, but you already know that.
take a look at these threads, it appears there are a few techniques. most involving an "easy out" extractor.

Wow I have to thank you A LOT for those links, I read thoroughly through both of them, and found quite a few different solutions to this problem and i'm planning to try all of them until I find one that works, if possible I may take some pictures and write up a DIY for any future Sc lovers who may need help with such a problem or a similar one.
