Default Boost leaking from couplers

I just helped my friend install a turbo on his car. It's a small turbo and internally wastegated should be running 5psi. We are only seeing about 3 psi Max. I know a few of the couplers are leaking. The clamps are all on tight, is there something I can put on the pipes under the couplers to make a better seal?

Also, he has a brand new HKS SSQV blow off valve. It sounds like he is getting compressor surge. Should the BOV sound like that? What should the screw in the back of the valve be adjusted too?

He's right. It's not mounted there' it's just to show what type of BOV I'm talking about, and how small the turbo is.

Post Maybe

Im a newbie on this but i thought thats what those HKS blow off valves sounded like. thats why i like them.

everyone comments on this setup as being compressor surge but looking at the money it looks like they put in this setup i dont know why they wouldnt have a bblow off valve correctly functioning.

A few of them have the small ring around the end, if that's what you're talking about.

I'm not sure of the brand of couplers he has.

Lastly, SoarerBoy, I'm not sure what you mean

use silicone couplers... they are stickier.

make sure theyre the right size for the pipe

use t-bolt clamps

spraying hairspray on the pipe the sliding the coupler on also helps, usually helps the pipe not blowing off though.
