What's up guys,
I have a 92 SC400 that's in need of a heart transplant. The engine in my car has it's fair share of gremlins. Lately my car has been giving me trouble; I rebuilt the tranny, replaced the rear end and tried to get my engine repaired, but with no progress. It seemed to have a misfire & I did a search on CL for tips as to what would cause this. Later I found that it may have been: a vacuum leak, bad IACV, bad injectors, lousy harness & computer. I figured the only solution is to swap the engine for a later year. I need info on what 1UZ would work best for my car.

Why don't you have someone hook a scan tool to it and see what kind of readings and codes you get before you do that.

He could just have the funds to do something like that. Also, he may want a vvti engine.
I know the vvti engine doesn't just plug and play like earlier ones.

92-94 will be plug and play. 95-97 you will have you use your obd1 harness on the new motor. 98-00 is a nightmare requiring more work than its worth.
