Starting issues in cold weather on highly modded car
My 1.5JZ car just got moved from Miami to north GA where temps are 30-40 degrees colder than the car is used to. On top of that....there's also the significant altitude change. With the large single turbo, the PO was also running NGK 8 plugs. The car has always started flawlessly when down south, and it's been fine for me as well till the temps dropped. Tried to crank it today with the temp about 32-34 degrees and it started right up. Hopped out to walk back in and let it warm up and it started studdering a bit. Before I could get back in and give it some revs, it died and has not started since. It'll hit a little but not start. Significant gas smell too.
Now I assume I've fouled the plugs and I have some 7's to go in tomorrow morning, but is there anything else I should consider. The car has very large injectors with only an Apexi NEO for tuning (don't worry.....my new system is 2 weeks out) so I'm not sure there's alot I can try. Seems like the stock ECU would make the necessary adjustments for altitude and temp....but are there any settings within the NEO I should consider changing.
